Is It Time to Cut the Cord?

By the time the millennial generation starts having children, do you think cable will still be around? Now I’m not one for fortune-telling but when I look into the future, I see… no wires. It’s already happening today! A lot of folks are opting out, cutting the cord and throwing away that clunky cable box. With so many online streaming options and various devices available, what is the need for cable? And when you compare the costs of cable versus some available streaming services, it almost seems like a no-brainer. If you’re keeping up with the times and looking to cut the cord, here are some options out there that can save you the high costs of cable!

  1. Amazon Prime Video: If you’re an Amazon Prime member and enjoy the 2-Day free shipping, did you know you also receive the Amazon Prime Video andMusic applications as part of that? Amazon Prime Video not only has countless TV shows but also a lot of great movies!

    Cost: 1-Year membership for $99 or $10.00 per month. There’s also a $49 –per-year program for students!

  2. Hulu and Hulu Plus: Hulu and Hulu Plus are the best when it comes to watching the latest episodes of your favorite TV shows. Hulu Plus offers a wide variety of network TV series with episodes ready to watch only 24 hours after they air live on TV. Now that’s fast service!

Cost: Hulu $5.99 per month – Hulu Plus: $7.99 per month

  3. Netflix: This is the most popular online streaming service currently on the market! This is the “Mother-Of-All-Services” because of the mass amount of movies you can watch! From the old-time classics like John Wayne’s True Grit, to Disney’s Pocahontas; Netflix has it all! Not only have they come out with Original Netflix movies but also series and documentaries that have won Emmy awards.

    Cost: $7.99 per-month

If you’re looking to make the switch and cut the cord, think about these three services and see which one makes the most sense for you. All of them are roughly around the same price and definitely cheaper than cable. Now, don’t get me wrong here, I still love my morning news with a cup of coffee, but after looking at the differences in cost from cable to streaming services, it’s amazing to think what they still charge for cable.

So if you want movies, then opt in for Netflix, if you love your TV shows, then Hulu Plus is the one for you. But if you like your movies and 2-Free Day shipping, Amazon Prime is the way to go. Or, better yet, with the low cost for each of them you can sign up for all 3!

P.S. – I’d love to hear if you’ve made the switch and what you think about it!

See you next week!
