With new technology trends, El Nino drenching California, the political debate expanding its playground tactics and Oregon’s standoff, it looks like we are in for another big year of challenges and surprises. And, since our smartphones and tablets have become a trusted information and news gathering sidekick in our daily lives, I suspect that our favorite ringtone or vibration in our pockets will have us jumping to see what’s new. Social media websites and apps have put the latest news right at our fingertips which we, as the curious humans we are, sometimes cant’ get enough of. We want our news, we want to know what’s going on, we want to stay connected and we want all of it now! These apps are there to make our lives easier.
Here are my favorite Life-Hack Apps:
Waze: I’ve found this to be the best app for directions and real-time traffic updates. Waze will update you if there’s an accident or police reported ahead. This app will take you on the best possible route to avoid traffic so you can get to your destination on time.
Flipboard: Whether you’re a news junkie or simply want to browse headlines, Flipboard has you covered. After you select the topics you’re most interested in, the app creates themed magazines that are personalized to your tastes.
Flush Toilet Finder: We’ve all been there. Can’t hold it any longer and you need to find a public restroom. This app will find public restrooms worldwide. Rest assured you can now find a restroom quickly without the panic!
Venmo: The easiest way to send or pay money to friends. You don’t even need to have the same bank as your friend, this app will link with any bank account making paying your friend back for dinner easier.
Hotel Tonight: Last minute change of plans and need a hotel room that isn’t the grungy motel on a desolate street? Hotel Tonight will find you the nearest hotels with great deals.
Retail Me Not: Find the latest deals, sales and coupons any store has to offer both in-store and online. You can manage the settings so the app will alert you when you walk into the store if there are any savings!
Think Dirty: This app tells you exactly what’s in the personal care product you’re about to buy. You scan the bar-code, and it shares information about potentially harmful ingredients. Is that really “organic” and “all-natural”?
Mint: This takes the hassle out of managing your money by combing all of your balances and investments into on place so that you can easily keep track of your spending and set your savings or spending goals.
These apps should help ‘MacGyver’ your life, make it simpler and get the information you need at the drop of a dime. While I always say; it’s good to unplug and clear your mind, while you are plugged in, these apps can help you get the information and news you want easily, efficiently and quickly.
