Simplify Your Life

Do you ever feel like you’re overwhelmed and overloaded? Do you have a ton of things happening all at once? Is your to-do list overflowing and continually growing longer? If so, you’re in luck because if you didn’t already know, the first week of August is national ‘Simplify Your Life’ Week!

So the question here is, how? How can you simplify your life to have a better peace of mind, sense of accomplishment and overall well-being? Let’s take a look at some ways below to help de-clutter your life and mind.

1. Just Say No: Don’t overcommit yourself! Trying to help everyone else and not yourself is a one-way ticket to exhaustion. You may be that person that’s always running around and helping other people and squeezing in the little time you have left for yourself. For one week, try to find some more time for yourself to accomplish the things that you need to get done for yourself first. If you have a situation or family responsibility that’s on your shoulders, don’t forget to ask for help.

2. Take Time: Overloaded with home-life and work? Need a day to catch up on some personal matters that you’ve been putting off for months? If you’re working, and you have time allowed to take a personal day, do it. Take a day off, plan to catch up on your to-dos and start marking checkmarks in all of those unchecked boxes

3. Get With the Times: New technology is all about simplifying your life. The cell phone has now become more than a brick with an antenna. There’s apps such as;Planner Pro – Daily Calendar & Personal Organizer, Cozi and Wunderlist that you can download for free. Your phone is like a personal assistant that you can use to help organize your life.

4. Break It: Please don’t break your phone because you couldn’t figure out the apps I just recommended in number three! I’m talking about breaking your habit of needing to do everything now. Once every week, I want you to take 60 minutes for yourself to do nothing. Go sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and views, lay down and take a quick nap, take a leisure walk by yourself so you can re-group. I know you’ll probably try and find every excuse why you can’t take 60 minutes for yourself, but put yourself to the test, stick to your guns and go for it!

Simplifying your life can be quite an adjustment for you mentally and physically. But it’s time to stop and smell the flowers and remember that you’re only human. It doesn’t matter if you’re working and raising three kids, retired or just plain busy. There’s some way, shape and or form that you can find ways to simplify your life. Remember to enjoy life and take every moment for what it’s worth.

If you want to simplify your financial-life, give me a call. I’ve got a longer list that will give you peace of mind and help you sleep better at night. There’s a strong correlation with your financial-life and personal well-being that shouldn’t go unchecked on your to-do list.
